What Are The New Trends In Hair Transplant ?

The older, traditional hair transplant surgeries are no more in vogue. Persistent research, feedback, and good results led to many innovative procedures. The well known FUT and FUE procedures are very common place nowadays. All over the world, Balding people select these techniques and achieve satisfactory results. But, Advanced technology is throwing up more interesting methods with better success rate.

Let us take a look at some of the more cutting edge advancements in hair transplant –

1. Follicular Unit Excision
Hair transplant seems very straightforward and simple to a lay person. Take some healthy hairs from donor area. Insert them into the balding areas of the scalp and do the dressing. This is not really the case in reality as there are many intricacies. The specialist surgeon has to apply skill and perform a blemish less, painless surgery. Even then, Patients are not happy with the results they see after a few months.

Recently, Follicular Unit Excision has begun to replace the Follicular Unit Extraction method. This is a painstakingly intricate procedure and a skilled surgeon is very much necessary. During the operation, individual hair follicles are excised or removed carefully. Collecting one at a time, instead of in patches, requires patience and ability. The surgeon also avoids linear scars, and patient may end up with tiny, dotted scars.

2. Cloning
Cloning basically means taking some cells and multiplying them under control. Hair cloning has been under research for quite some time now. Biotech companies invested a lot of time, money, and energy into these cutting edge techniques. Experiments and clinical trials are conducted under controlled situations for efficiency. The researchers do not clone, but actually regenerate the required cells. They use the FUE method to extract about 50 follicles. Then they isolate the cellular components of significance. These are then replicated and increased(or multiplied) up to 1500 cells. These new cells are injected into the patient donor areas for refreshing hair growth.

Although still in experimental stage, Cloning and regeneration hold a lot of promise. The objective of researchers is to come up with superior techniques of hair growth. The surgeries are also designed to be minimally invasive and free from regular maintenance. Patients can also, in the future, freeze(store in ice) their healthy cells for use when they may go bald later on in life.

3. Robotics

Unlike cloning, Robotic systems have already been patented and used. Computerized calculations and robotic devices are a winning combination. Precise surgeries can be performed with minimal to no scarring whatsoever. The donor area follicles are also harvested with greater efficiency and results are more satisfactory. The surgeons also do not have to undergo fatigue like in manual operations. They can focus more on skillful maneuvering or controlling of the robotic arms and devices. All in all , The future looks really great and promising in the competitive field of hair transplant surgeries.
