What to Expect?

Breast implant surgery, also known as breast enlargement procedure, is a popular cosmetic surgery for increasing the size and volume of a woman’s breasts. In popular culture, the surgery is also called by different names such as breast augmentation surgery and boob job. There are two different and distinct methods for enhancing the woman’s beauty using breast enlargement procedure.

The first method known as breast implant surgery is very popular due to its extensive use by the entertainment, fashion, and showbiz industries. Many popular models, actresses, stars, and celebrities rely on breast implants to increase their breast size and make themselves attractive and photogenic.

The second method, known as fat graft or fat transfer procedure, relies on removing fat from other parts of the body using liposuction. This extracted fat is subsequently injected into the patient’s breasts to increase their volume, roundness, size, symmetry, and balance.

The breasts also become more proportionate and become pointed after implant or fat transfer procedures. The two methods are also suitable for patients who have disproportionate breasts. If one breast is smaller than the other, then the surgeon increases its size to accurate measurements and achieves the correct balance and physical beauty.

Breast augmentation through implants is a safe and reliable surgical procedure that produces effective results in very short time. The surgery of breast implant is an invasive procedure and the patient is inserted with prosthetic sacs after careful assessment.

The surgeons use two different types of sacs known as saline implant or silicone gel implant. Both implants have an outer silicone shell, but they differ in the internal gel or fluid. In saline implants, the silicone shell is filled up with sterile salt water during the surgery. The quantity of saline is predetermined or modified during surgery for achieving best size and symmetry.

In the silicone gel implants, the prosthetic sac is prefilled with soft and elastic silicone gel, and the correct shape and size is chosen before the surgery.

Other types of implants include structured saline implants and cohesive gel implants. Irrespective of the type of implant, the breast implant surgery is performed with the objective of augmenting the breasts for cosmetic improvements without any additional therapeutic benefits.

During surgery, the surgeon inserts the implants inside the breast after making small, moderately large, or larger incisions in the breasts. The size and shape of incisions vary from patient to patient, and the entire procedure is performed under anesthesia to ensure patient safety.

The patient has to consult the surgeon and confirm all the associated risks and complications. The consultation is also essential for assessing the breast size requirements, patient’s present medical history, and other vital signs.

The breast enlargement procedure is suitable for women who have different types of breast related abnormalities or problems.
